17.10.2008 Energy Regulatory Office approves new gas prices
On 17 October 2008, PGNiG SA received the decision of the President of the Energy Regulatory Office pertaining to the approval of Tariff Change no. 1/2008 for gas fuels. The average increase in payments for gas will be 7.99 percent. The wholesale price of natural gas will increase by 11.1 percent. The new prices will be introduced by PGNiG SA on 1 November 2008.
The decision by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office means an increase in payments for individual users by 4.2 to 6.8 percent. Individuals who use natural gas for cooking (tariff group W-1) will, on average, pay PLN 1.24 more per month; those who use gas for cooking and heating water (tariff group W-2) will pay PLN 5.30, and bills for heating (tariff group W-3) will increase on average by PLN 20.73. For industrial users, average gas payments will increase by 6.8 to 10.3 percent. The amount of the increase will depend on the amount of gas used.
The introduction of changes to the gas tariff is necessary due to the significant increase in the costs of importing natural gas, the price of which is determined based on the higher average price of oil derivatives for the last nine months. In relation to the tariff assumptions adopted in April of this year, they increased by more than 20 percent and became significant by the third quarter of 2008.
Below we present detailed information pertaining to the increase of monthly payments for household users (including VAT).
